Anthony (Tony) Mays, son of the late Donia Mays and late Edward Showell born on May 7, 1956 in Wilmington, DE. He transitioned from his earthly life on Monday, January 30, 2017 while residing at Cadia Rehabilitation Center.
Anthony was nurtured and raised by his older brother, Louis and wife, Alma Ross. He attended Wilmington Public Schools and graduated from P.S. DuPont High School in 1974. Upon graduation, Anthony enlisted into the United States Army and honorably served his country from 1974 until 1982. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Ms Deborah Clifton on November 4, 1978 of Wilmington, DE.
Tony enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, bowling, and entertaining. He could spend hours on end entertaining family and friends with his humorous antics. He was a deeply sensitive and caring individual who loved to make people laugh. He was an avid music lover who listened and loved all genres of music.
Tony shared a special bond with Donzell Ross, his brother, Levi’s daughter. During his sickness that extended for many years, Donzell through her undeniable and unconditional love chose to take over the role of caregiver and healthcare advocate for him that continued until his transition.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Gloria and Geneva Ross, Betty Graham; three brothers, Levi and Clyde Ross and George Mays.
Tony leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Deborah, two daughters, Monique Dorsey and Kari Clifton (Nile); one grandson, Haizon Dorsey; his exceptional niece, Donzell Ross; two brothers, Lewis and Robert Ross; one sister, Virginia Ross and a host of relatives and friends.
