Obituary for Minnie Lee Newman (Williams)

Minnie Lee Newman (Williams)
Born August 12th, 1944 to the late Harry L. Williams and Lucille Williams in Wilmington, Delaware.

She attended De La Warr High School and graduated in 1962 where she was highly active in many activities such as Cheerleading, Student Council, and Chorus. She later graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Delaware Technical Community College.

She worked for various companies until setting forth on her career as an Administrative Assistant with The DuPont Corporation for twenty years until her retirement in 2001.

During her retirement years, Minnie along with her husband embarked on many different endeavors such as owning and operating their own transportation business (Big Bear Transportation, LLC). Minnie loved to travel. Her favorite vacation destination was Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was an avid lover of old western movies watching them all day into the night. She was a devoted reader of many different novels. It wasn’t a day that went by that you didn’t see a book in her hand. She had a creative eye and it showed in the many flower arrangements that she made for people over the years. She took great pleasure in bossing around her husband, son, and her two sisters at any given moment. Shopping was one of her hidden past times as well.

On June 13th, 2015, Minnie L. Newman received the Sacraments of Christian Initiation from St. Joseph Catholic Church. From there she joined the Women’s Auxiliary Group in which she took part in a variety of volunteer projects within the church.

Minnie loved being around her family and couldn’t wait for the Christmas holiday to come around. Her greatest inspiration and joy in her life were her two grandchildren (Kyndal and Madison Newman). She loved her girls like only a grandmother could. She lived to be in their presence any chance she had. They stayed on the road daily whether it was running errands to going out to their favorite destination for fine dining (Cracker Barrel). In the days leading up to her transition into heaven, all she spoke of was seeing her grandchildren and being there to watch them grow into young ladies. She now has the best view ever to see it all.

Minnie opened her heart and home to family and friends over the years. She will be sorely missed by us all!!!

She is preceded in death by both of her parents Harry Williams and Lucille Williams, one sister (Maxine) and one brother (Harry Williams, Jr).

She leaves behind to cherish her memory the love of her life for 51 years Victor L. Newman Sr., her biological son John Newman (Ashley), her three stepsons Robbie Newman (Jackie), Anthony Newman (Tracey), Victor Newman, Jr. One Step-Daughter(Carol Newman), her favorite girls in the whole world(grandchildren) Kyndal and Madison Newman, her three sisters Andria Williams, Valerie Williams, Irma Adams(Thomas), two brothers Nathaniel Williams(Renata) and Alfredy Williams, a sister-in-law Juanita Harmon and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
