Obituary for Evelyn Denise Handley

Evelyn Denise Handley
Evelyn Denise Foster Handley, aged 57, succumbed to her illness peacefully on July 13, 2017 at Compassionate Care Hospice Facility. Denise, as she was affectionately called, was born February 26, 1960, New Castle, Delaware, the daughter of Emmett Lee and Mabel Powell Foster. Denise enjoyed being around family, playing cards, taking pictures, t.v. documentaries, and movies. She also enjoyed music and going to concerts. She attended DeLawarr High School.

One of her biggest achievements was her 21 years of sobriety and working in the drug and alcohol field helping others to get clean and sober. She also served on the Advisory Board of Director of Ryukyukai.

In 2001, Denise and Robert met each other while working at Brandywine Counseling and shortly after were united in Holy Matrimony. Denise married the love of her life, Robert Handley, and they resided in New Castle County, Delaware. Denise worked for Brandywine Counseling for 17 years until she could not work any longer.

In addition to raising their children, Denise and Robert also raised their niece and nephew Tiana and CJ for a time and later cared for another nephew Shawn after he became ill. Denise loved family and the unity of family made her most proud.

Denise was a member of Joshua Harvest in Wilmington, Delaware under the leadership of Pastor Derek Johnson,

Denise was preceded in death by her father, the late Emmett Lee Foster, Sister's Dianne C. Dennis (Clyde), and Vanessa Lee "Peachy" Foster.

Denise leaves to cherish her memories: Husband: Robert Handley, Sons: Dashon (Dyamond) Foster, Robert Handley III, Mother: Mabel Powell Foster, Brothers: Emmett Terry (Cheryl) Foster, Steven Foster, Sister: Tracy Foster. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.

The family wishes to thank all those who cared for Denise during her illness. Send donations to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundations – 11 Independence Way Newark, Delaware 19713
