Beverly Denise (Nicey) Anderson was born on May 12, 1964 in Wilmington, Delaware. She departed this life on Saturday, April 29, 2017 in St. Francis Hospital. Nicey is the daughter of the late Landolph Beverly and Hester H. Anderson.
Nicey graduated from Newark High School in Newark, Delaware. She met and developed a loving relationship with Mark Anthony Herring and the two of them were blessed to have two children, Mar’Keist and Lanetta Anderson; one granddaughter Si’YaAnderson.
Everyone who knew Nicey well would say she had a generous heart and would give her last to help someone else. Nicey’s home was often the place where her nieces and nephews would congregate, people in the community considered their second home, and where many family barbeques were held. Nicey acquired her spirit of being the consummate hostess from her late mother, Hester Herman Ayers-Anderson.
Nicey’sgift of serving was seen in both the professional and secular realms. Most of Nicey’s career choices led her to serve in the retail industry as a clerk, manager, and facilities operator. Nicey’s love of serving was evident by her care of children even before she was blessed with her own biological children.
Nicey took pleasure in and was most happy when she was cooking, cleaning, and pampering her children, nieces, nephews, and godchildren. She loved making pizza, cookies, and homemade meals for her family and friends. Her cohorts at the Dialysis Clinic were also favored with her baked goods. When she wasn’t caring for others in her home, she served as a volunteer at Palmer Elementary School. Nicey nurtured and assisted people from her heart based on their needs not on their appearances.
Besides her children and her newborn granddaughter, the loves of Nicey’s life consisted of eating ice, watching Law and Order, and Ghost Whisperers. She also enjoyed spending time with her siblings; especially the visits to Locust Grove Virginia, which allowed her tospend special time with her oldest sister and brother-in-law, Belinda and Alvin Macklin.
Nicey truly loved the Lord and was baptized as a teenager at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. Dr. Albert L. Walker. After having been a member for more than ten years at Mt. Sinai, Nicey later joined Cornerstone Fellowship Baptist Church under Pastor Donald E. Dunnigan, Sr. In 2016, She rededicated her life to the Lord under Rev. Dr. Natalie P. Alford, then, the Pastor of Trinity AME Church in Middletown, Delaware.
