On Tuesday, April 18, 2017, Lila Mae Miller was called to her eternal home. She exchanged mortality for immortality at Heartland Hospice in Wilmington, Delaware.
Lila was born on June 1, 1919 to the late Arnett and Hattie Miller in CawCaw Calhoun County, South Carolina. She was predeceased by her sister, Hattie Ernestine and brother, Woodrow Miller; one great grandson, Marc Miller.
She was educated in Orangeburg in South Carolina and Greenwich Ct. Schools. Lila received Christ early in her youth when she united with the First Baptist Church in Greenwich.
In 1941 she united with the Bethesda Baptist Church in Port Chester, New York, where she served as the President of the Usher Board until her health started to deteriorate. She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church for 76 years. She was appointed Mother of Bethesda Baptist Church and also served on the Deaconess Board.
She retired from Lifesavers Inc. of Port Chester, New York after serving 38 years of employment.
She is survived by a son, Andrew Miller (Brenda) of Riverside, California; two daughter, Claudette Swan of Newark, Delaware and Carol Miller of Port Chester, New York; one sister, Jane Loney of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two Godchildren, Tanya Purnell of Newark, Delaware and Theodore Loney, Jr. of Yonkers, New York; two adopted daughters, Remona Cardoza of Port Chester, New York and Doris McClee of Pinesville, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Yolanda Miller of Newark, Delaware, Vernee Swan of Newark, Delaware, Rodney, Darryl and Mark Miller of Riverside, California; one adopted granddaughter, Cynthia McCray of Washington, New Jersey; five great grandchildren, Chalon, Kiandra, Monique, Nadia and Donovan; four great, great, grandchildren, Daquan, Jhurnee, Janiya and Jakai and a host of other family and dear friends.
