Obituary for Willie M. Williams

Willie M. Williams
Willie Mae Williams was born to Elder and Maggie Duncan in Flat Top, Alabama. She was educated in the Alabama school system.

Willie Mae married Thomas Eddie Williams, and together they had two children, Nadene Britt and Sandra Myers. Willie and Thomas moved to Delaware to find employment and raise their children.

Later Willie Mae met her lifelong partner Thomas Starkey. From this relationship Nadene and Sandra received three loving step brothers; Jimmy Starkey, Kenneth Starkey, and William Starkey.

Willie Mae worked in many places in Wilmington: the leather factories, the mushroom factories, El Capitan on 202, Ezion Mount Carmel United Church, and last but not least as a cook assistant at the YMCA for several years. Once retired, she enjoyed playing bingo and going to Delaware Park.

Willie Mae joined Ezion Mount Carmel United Church here in Wilmington.

In life, Willie Mae always placed her children and family members and friends first. She always shared her table with everyone. She shared her life with everyone as well.

She leaves behind: two children, N adene and Sandra; eight grandchildren, LaMont (Lynnette), LaVonne (Terry), Derrick (Tilaki), Dwayne, Lamar, Kenneth, Keith, Clarissa, and Kimberly; 30 great-grandchildren; 13 great-grear-grandchildren; and a host of her grandchildren's friends, whom she loved deeply.
