Linda(Lynda)D. Lewis was born July 1, 1951, to the late Leroy Bailey and Elizabeth Seward. She made her return to our creator at the age of 65, on Tuesday, February 7, 2017.
Born and raised in Mt. Vernon, NY, Lynda graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and went on to continue her education at Hunter College in Bronx, NY. Since the age of 17, Lynda worked for Verizon, formally Nynex Telephone Company, and retired from her managerial position with over 30 years of service. After retirement, Lynda dedicated her time managing an Urgent Care facility in New Castle, Delaware where she resided since 2000 with her husband of 33 years, Andrew W. Lewis.
Lynda had a passion for life and was actively involved in her community as a member of the Grace Baptist Church and the Mt. Vernon Democratic Committee. She turned her love for playing cards into the creation of the Mt. Vernon the Bid Whist Club and as an avid bowler and member of the Delaware Strike Force bowling club, she was able to travel the world for tournaments with her friends.
Lynda’s devotion as a loving wife and mother will live on as she is survived by her husband and three daughters, LaVerne Boothe (Gary Boothe), LaDeace Lewis-Bowman and Bridgette Lewis-Richard (Francois Richard). Her legacy continues on through her grandchildren; SaQuran Reid, Precious Bowman, Asia Bowman, Josh Boothe, Jada Boothe and Ryann Richard.
In addition, Lynda leaves behind her brother, Leroy Bailey; sister, Arlene Bailey; sister-in-law, Joni Lewis; aunts, Mary Norman and Martha Steadman (Reginald Steadman) as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
