Obituary for Walker James Moyer

Walker Moyer was Born March 12, 1922 in Eden, NC to Albert Moyer and Martha O. Hairston. Walker was raised in the small community of Moyertown, NC., just outside of Eden.

Walker attended schools in the Eden area, and moved north to Wilmington with many relatives. Once in Delaware, he found employment with General Motors, where he later retired. He also met and married Doris Govens. Out of that union, two sons, Graig Sterling and Darren Lee, were born. Though divorced, Doris and Walker remained friends until the end.

Walker, who found pleasure in fishing and crabbing, often took his sons with him. While living in Belvedere, he had a large plot of land where he grew vegetables for family and friends.He loved to watch his favorite baseball team, the Phillies, attending live games or yelling at the TV.

Walker is proceeded in death by his parents, Albert and Martha Moyer; Brothers, Douglas (Louise), Sterling (Opra), Calvin, Berkley and Sisters, Connie Dalton, Lillian Moyer, Christine Richardson, Linnell Matkins, and Jane Smith.

Walker is survived by sons Craig (Edmonia) and Darren (Susan); grandchildren, Lekisha, Matthew, Jasmarie and Thomas; Great-Grandchildren, Julian and Adam, and special devoted friend, Frances McDonald; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
