Obituary for Stephen Thomas Smith

Stephen T. Smith born in Wilmington, DE on July 16, 1954; departed this life on November 11, 2016 at the age of 62.

Stephen received his early education in Shortlidge Elementary School, Warner Junior High, and graduated from P.S. Dupont High School in 1973. Stephen began working for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers as an apprentice and soon after became an electrician.

Stephen was married to his sweetheart Arlene for 36 years and from this union two children were conceived, Stephen and Iris. Stephen loved spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed engaging in activities such as completing jigsaw puzzles, fishing, and swimming. Steve was an accomplished swimmer and was certified by the National American Red Cross as a Water Safety Trainer. He loved being near the water and visiting the beach.

Stephen is preceded in death by his parents, Coleman and Mary Smith and one sibling Coleman Elwood Smith.

Stephen leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Arlene Smith; 2 children, Stephen T. Smith II (Kylie) and Iris Drakeford (Derrick); 6 wonderful grandchildren Cedarrick Mallory, Dylan Scott, Jakayla Smith, Tieona Mathis, Aspen Smith, Jada Drakeford; 9 siblings, Doris Davenport (Leonard), Carole Latney, Lawrence Smith (Isheta), Phillip Smith (Anita), Darryl Smith (Hara), Pamela Lucas (Ervin), Sherry Dorsey (Kevin), Leonard Smith (Monique), Patricia Patton and a host of extended family and friends.
