Obituary for Craig H. Price

Craig Henry Price, son of the late Romayne E. Price, was born on November 5, 1958 in Wilmington, Delaware. He departed this life suddenly, yet peacefully, on Thursday, May 16, 2019 in St. Francis Hospital.

He received his early education in the public schools of Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School (Red Devils) in 1976.

Craig was fortunate to have a long career with Hillyards and Enterprise. In 2015, he settled in as a school crossing guard with the City of Wilmington. This was more than a job to Craig and he was very proud to hold that position and took a lot of pride in it. His last post was across the street from St. Anne’s School, where if the children, parents and staff didn’t see him, they would call his supervisor and inquire about his well being. Craig was loved and respected by all that he encountered. He was amazing and would do anything for his friends and family.

Craig loved Pontiacs and when he purchased his 1st Trans Am, white with a big blue Hawk on the hood, he became a member of the Trans Am Club. After some years passed by, he brought his 2nd Trans Am, candy apple red with T-tops and became a member of the “Z” Connection. He loved traveling with the car clubs cruising down the Brandywine, Market Street and riding through St. Anthony’s Italian Festival blasting House music until the day it closed. He also enjoyed attending the Philadelphia Auto Show, riding all of the roller coasters at Great Adventure and was an avid Philadelphia fan, ESPECIALLY THE EAGLES! When they won the Super Bowl on February 5th, 2018, he even shed tears. We were all sitting there in disbelief. Craig was an avid player of jeopardy and would often answer the questions before the contestants. As a youth would question his sister-in-law, one question that comes to mind is “Do you know how long the Mississippi River is?”

Craig never liked candy or sodas. As a child, his Easter basket consisted of French fries, chips, popcorn and pretzels. Amongst one of his favorite things was Claudia’s sweet potato fluff and he looked forward to it on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Craig admired his brother and was very proud of his four nieces. He talked about their accomplishments and would never miss a birthday. He would always call and as soon as you picked up the phone, you would hear “Happy Birthday to Ya”, by Stevie Wonder and then he would say Happy Birthday and I love you.

He had a love for music and his entire collection was on cassette tapes that he still listened to. His favorite band was Earth, Wind and Fire; he loved Barry White (The Maestro), Donna Summer and house music. Craig always listened to his music at full capacity busting his speakers in the car.

Craig is predeceased by his mother, Romayne E. Price; grandparents, Gerald Sr. and Dorothy Price; uncle, Gerald Price, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories; his brother and sister-in-law, Wayne D. and Claudia Price; aunt, Charlotte Price; nieces, Khelia Henry (Thomas), Tonyell Boddy (Claude), Charmisha Price (Charles) and Theenda Kinney (LeVern); great nieces and nephews; Britiane Coleman (Byron), Michael and Dominque Bright, Jasmine Price, Brandi Henry, Anthony E. II, Ce’Vaun, Samiya, and Kristian Kinney; great- great nieces, Zuree Zoee Coleman, McKenzi Norman and Jaidah Henry-Wright; one great-great nephew, Jaidyn Henry and a multitude of other relatives and friends.
